Bach, Bagels, and Bob - July 4 Episode - Meet the Musicians

Bach, Bagels, and Bob was broadcast live on Saturday July 4, 2020.

This show featured an opportunity for the audience to meet BONJ musicians: Roosevelt Porter (bass), Evan Ardelle (cello), Rozie Dumas (violin/viola), and Lee Doswell (bassoon).

Maestro Robert W. Butts and the musicians discussed their careers, composers and compositions they expecially liked, and the challenges of performing new music and performing during the current world crisis.

Also appearing was Jee-Hoon Krska, founder and director of Keys 2 Success.  The landmark video peformance of Variations on Simple Gifts, co-composed by Maestro Butts and Elijah Souels, was an unforgettable part of the show.  All four guest musicians participated in this community and artistic collaboration.

Musical excerpts from performances by BONJ under the baton of Maestro Butts included Jubilee by George Chadwick, Concert Overture #2 by Florence Price, American Patrol by Frank White, Piano Concerto in F by George Gershwin, and The Entertainer by Scott Joplin.

The next show of Bach, Bagels, and Bob will be Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 AM.  Special guests include oboist Nancy Vanderslice and bassoonist Andrew Pecota as we "Meet the Winds."
