The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey Announces Exciting 2018-2019 Season
The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey under the baton of Maestro Robert W. Butts is excited to announce the 2018-2019 Season!
Not all the programs are finalized, but the dates are set, guest artists are confirmed, and many of the major works have been selected!
The season opens November 11 at 3:00 PM at Dolan Hall, The Annunciation Center, The College of Saint Elizabeth. Continuing the orchestras journey through Beethoven's music will be Ah Perfido, a rarely heard vocal masterpiece sung by BONJ favorte Timothy Maureen Cole. In honor of Veterans Day, the orchestra will also perform Franz Joseph Haydn's popular Symphony #100, The Military Symphony. Haydn was a mentor and symphonic model for Beethoven. Another mentor for Beethoven was perhaps a little surprising to many and is more associated with Mozart. Beethoven's primariy teacher on writing vocal music such as Ah, Perfido was none other than Antonio Salieri! Also featured on the program will be BONJ violinist Alyson Whelan-Rios who will perform Mozart's dazzling Violin Concerto #3.
The annual Wassail concert will be January 13 at 3:00 PM at Grace Church. The concert will feature Beethoven's popular Symphony #6 - The Pastoral. A special treat will be the premiere of Viola Concerto by Maestro Robert W. Butts with internationally acclaimed violist Brett Deubner on solo part. The concerto is composed especially for Mr. Deubner, who hopes to take it on the road with him when he travels to other orchestras. Mr. Deubner is a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He has previously performed concerti by Paul Hindemith and Franz Anton Hoffmeister with BONJ. Mr. Deubner has recorded several CDs and premiered works with orchestras throughout the United States and in South America.
The Spring concert will be April 14 at 3:00 PM at Dolan Hall, The Annunciation Center, The College of Saint Elizabeth. Program is still being decided.
The season concludes June 2 at 3:00 PM at Dolan Hall, The Annunciation Center, The College of Saint Elizabeth with a very special treat. Pianist Paul Zeigler returns to perform the electrifying Piano Concerto of George Gershwin! Also on the program will be Beethoven's Symphony #4.
Tickets for the 2018-2019 Season will go on sale soon. Please watch for further announcements. We look forward to sharing these wonderful performances with you as BONJ continues Exploring Beethoven as well as many other great works by great composers of the past and present.
