Kick-off the Christmas season with a special performance by The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, conducted by Dr. Robert W. Butts,
and including special guest vocalists Valerie Muller, Don Sheasley, Deb Fennelly and internationally acclaimed pianist Paul Zeigler.
The American Prize named The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey one of the top three community orchestras in the United States. Orchestras are judged on artistic quality, including the overall effect of performances, musicality, rhythmic incisiveness, ensemble tone quality, accuracy, intonation and knowledge of style.
The BONJ was also noted for its program diversity and innovation, including the premier of new works by local composers.
In addition, Maestro Butts received a special citation for his role in developing the excellence of The Baroque Orchestra and for his outstanding efforts as an educator and proponent of classical music in the community.
2011 marks the second consecutive year that BONJ was recognized for its artistic excellence by The American Prize.
The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey was founded in 1996 to explore the music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As the orchestra developed as an ensemble and as a dynamic community presence, repertoire and offerings expanded to all periods and forms of classical music.
