Effie Yuen, a native of Washington, DC, received her BM from the Cleveland Institute of Music and MM from the Manhattan School of Music. Her principal teachers were Abraham Skernick, Lillian Fuchs and Stanley Bednar. She is a veteran of the Meadowmount School of Music, the Southern Vermont Music Festival and the Yellow Barn Music Festival. At one time she performed with the Taipei Municipal Orchestra and taught violin and viola at the College of Chinese Culture in Taipei, Taiwan. Now a resident of New Jersey, she has worked with a constellation of the area’s many organizations including the Plainfield Symphony, the Paper Mill Playhouse, the New Jersey Ballet, the Orchestra of St. Peter’s by the Sea, the Staten Island Philharmonic, the Garden State Philharmonic, the Garden State Opera and of course, the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey.
