History has given us many great couples over the centuries—Anthony & Cleopatra, Bogey & Bacall, Marie & Pierre Curie, to name but a few. We think one of the best pairings is YOU & BONJ. With your generous contribution to our 2025-2026 season you are ensuring that live classical music remains affordable and accessible in New Jersey. And you are helping foster the next generation of musicians and audiences. Thank you so very much.
Diamonds are the modern symbol of the 30th anniversary. As the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey celebrates three decades, BONJ is the jewel in the musical crown, and like a diamond, its repertoire sparkles and gives great enjoyment.
Our 30th Season celebration will begin with our continuing Music Box Series in collaboration with The Morris Museum, A Smithsonian Affiliate, and the historic Guinness Collection at the Bickford Theatre. Because last year's concert sold out so quickly, we will present the concert twice – Friday evening November 14 at 7:00 PM and Sunday afternoon November 16 at 3:00 PM. A light reception with the artists will follow each concert. This year the theme is Verdi & Beethoven. The first half will feature guest artists like soprano Theresa Carlomagno, fresh from her performances of Mimi in Sicily, and tenor Gary Pate of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus. Thanks to Jere Ryder, Conservator of the Collection, and the great team at the museum, several music boxes will be on display. The concert’s second half will feature the orchestra with special guest Daniel Colalillo for an exciting performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto #4. Tickets for these concerts will be sold through the Morris Museum.
Continuing our celebration, the orchestra returns to its roots for a Baroque Wassail concert on Sunday, January 18 at 2:00 PM at Grace Church in Madison. The concert will feature music by Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Frideric Handel and a few surprises. Musicians from the orchestra will bring to life rarely heard masterpieces such as Vivaldi’s Concerto for Oboes and Horns while special guest organist Anne Matlack will join for one of Handel’s great organ concertos.
Have you ever wished you could at least once play in a symphonic orchestra and have your performance captured on video? Stay tuned for a special opportunity as our April 19 concert at Grace Church will feature a group of composers we collectively call “The Many Mozarts.” In addition to the famous Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, we will feature selections by Joseph Bologne (The Chevalier de Saint Georges), Joseph Martin Kraus (The Swedish Mozart), and Wolfgang’s father Leopold!
The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey is New Jersey's leading orchestra for community engagement and collaboration. With your help, we bring the music to retirement communities, to downtown Newark, to medical and health facilities, and to schools. We work with community organizations to help feed the homeless, to support programs for adult autism, to provide opportunities for young artists in underserved schools, to work with The National Park Service through collaborations with Morristown National Historical Park, to provide free concerts so all can enjoy the music together, to work internationally with arts and cultural institutions, and to share lives through music.
